The Saint John Sea Dogs announced Friday they have parted ways with General Manager Anthony Stella.
Since the 2014-15 season, Stella has worked in different capacities within the organization, ultimately rising from scout to general manager in April 2023.
“Anthony is a passionate identifier of talent, cares deeply about hockey, and has great work ethic,” said President Trevor Georgie.
“He has been an important part of the Sea Dogs for many years. We have so many fond memories working together, highlighted by the journey and eventual victory at the 2022 Memorial Cup here in Saint John. We wish him the very best in the future.”
The Sea Dogs also announced that Head Coach Travis Crickard has been promoted to general manager. He will continue with his coaching duties.
Crickard became part of the organization in 2021, stepping in as an assistant coach, and won the Memorial Cup in 2022. The next season, he took on the role of the 11th head coach in the team’s history.
“Respecting this next challenge with a strong sense of humility, hunger, and honour, we will strive to continue the Sea Dogs legacy of winning championships, player development, and creating positive lifetime experiences,” said Crickard.
The Sea Dogs return to Saint John on Saturday at 7 p.m., hosting the Charlottetown Islanders at TD Station.
