No injuries have been reported after a car and a school bus collided in Saint John’s Millidgeville neighbourhood.
Police said the crash happened on Kennebecasis Drive around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Staff Sgt. Matt Weir.
Weir said the bus was travelling east on Kennebecasis Drive while the car was heading west toward Millidge Avenue.
Several students were on the bus at the time of the crash, he said, and both vehicles sustained significant damage.
The cause is still under investigation, but Weir said the driver of the car is expected to be issued “multiple violations” under the Motor Vehicle Act.
A spokesperson for the Francophone South School District confirmed one of its school buses was involved in the incident.
Geneviève Chiasson said the bus was transporting students from kindergarten to Grade 8 from Centre scolaire communautaire Samuel-de-Champlain.
“A replacement bus was promptly sent to the scene to ensure the students were safely transported home,” Chiasson wrote in an email.
“The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities, and we are ensuring that all necessary steps are being taken to address the situation.”
