January 27 is the cutoff date to become a Registered Liberal, to be eligible to vote for the next leader.
Candidate Chrystia Freeland is calling for four debates before the leader is officially chosen on March 9th.
“Two in English and two in French. This is an important contest. We are choosing the next leader of Liberal party, and that means that we’re choosing the next Prime Minister of Canada. It’s really important to give all Canadians a chance to see the candidates in action, to hear what they have to say, to hear what they have to offer.”
There are currently six candidates in the running for the leadership role, Chrystia Freeland, Mark Carney, Karina Gould, Jaime Battiste, Frank Baylis and Ruby Dhalla.
