If elementary, intermediate, and high school students had voted last night, the federal election might have had a different outcome.
More than 900,000 students from 5900 Canadian schools cast a mock ballot as a part of the Student Vote Canada program.
They’re all too young to vote officially, but the program helps to teach them more about democracy and the election process.
After the votes were counted, the results showed a Conservative minority government with 165 seats.
For the students, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre would have won in the riding of Carleton, Ontario.
The Liberal Party won 145 seats and 31.7 per cent of the popular vote, forming the official opposition.
Mark Carney also won in his riding of Nepean, Ontario.
The NDP won 13 seats, but Jagmeet Singh lost his seat, which also reflects what really happened in the federal election.
Students voted to give the Bloc Québécois 18 seats.
