Many are getting in the mood for camping.
A lot of people began pitching tents or hauling trailers after COVID, and sales have continued since then, that’s according to the General Manager of Leisure Days RV in Salisbury, Chris Dery.
“Typically, people start looking, believe it or not, in late fall and early spring. The busiest times are definitely spring and summer months, though,” Dery says.
He says smaller campers are popular currently, ranging between 19 to 26 feet with bunks and space for the whole family. It’s a good mix of used and new, but Dery says he needs more used trailers because they are in high demand.
Dery says he sees a lot of families buying trailers for the first time or upgrading to a larger trailer.
“If you are making your first purchase, research what you’re looking for. You have to know what you are capable of hauling if you’re going to be parking or going from place to place every weekend. There are really several factors,” Dery says.
Camping season traditionally starts the long weekend in May, but there are some campgrounds open on May 10 for their seasonal campers.
