New Brunswick’s newest senator will sit as an independent in the upper chamber.
Dawn Arnold said she has decided to be part of the Independent Senators Group.
“Their commitment to research and informed decision-making, collaboration and non-partisanship is very appealing to me,” Arnold said in a news release on Friday.
“I look forward to representing my province at this important time in our nation’s history and working for all Canadians.”
Arnold became the first woman to be elected mayor of Moncton in 2016 and served in that role until her Senate appointment in early March.
