Assistant Commissioner Matco Sirotic has officially been welcomed as the 32nd commanding officer of the New Brunswick RCMP.
A change of command ceremony took place at the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown on Tuesday.
Sirotic took on his new role in December and replaced DeAnna Hill, who served as commanding officer since Feb. 2022.
The dedication and professionalism of our members and employees are truly inspiring,” Sirotic said in a news release.
“Their commitment to public safety and community service is unwavering, and I am eager to continue working alongside them to uphold the highest standards of policing across our 38 detachments in the province.”
After starting his policing career in 2004, Sirotic was promoted to corporal in 2012 and served as the detachment commander for Minto.
He then moved on to the criminal operations division in Nunavut in 2014, where he was later promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Sirotic became staff sergeant in 2017 and took on the role of detachment commander for the Iqaluit detachment before transferring to Halifax as the watch commander.
He became a commissioned officer in 2020 and served as the director of the Atlantic Regional Departmental Security Section for Nova Scotia before being appointed office in charge of operational policy in 2023.
In 2024, he was promoted to superintendent and became officer in charge of specialized policing and operational support services in New Brunswick.
“His leadership, dedication, and deep understanding of policing will serve the province well,” RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme said in the release.
“I have full confidence in his ability to guide the New Brunswick RCMP with integrity and commitment.”
