Saint John police have arrested a 44-year-old man following an armed robbery at an uptown restaurant.
Officers were called to the 30-block of Waterloo Street at around 6:15 p.m. Monday.
“It was alleged that a man armed with a weapon had entered the restaurant, damaged the cash register and demanded money,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.
Police said the man ran off from the restaurant with some cash, but officers were able to identify him based on video surveillance.
About an hour later, police searched a nearby building and arrested the suspect for robbery, mischief and an outstanding warrant for being unlawfully at large.
The accused remains in custody and is due in court on Tuesday.
Police said no physical injuries were reported during the incident.
