It was a historic 41st IWK Telethon for Children.
More than $8.3 million was raised by the end of CTV Atlantic’s broadcast Sunday evening.
It’s the IWK Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser.
Donations support the hospital’s most urgent priorities such as equipment, education, research, and innovation.
For example, this year, donors helped the IWK purchase IV syringe pumps for the emergency department, which deliver small, precise doses of lifesaving medication.
President and CEO Jennifer Gillivan says, “Year after year, our Maritime community steps up to support their IWK, ensuring that children, youth and families across the region have access to world-class care right here at home. Today, they made history.”
Gillivan adds that over four decades the community’s “generosity and commitment have never wavered, even in these uncertain economic times.”
Located in Halifax, N.S., the IWK is the region’s largest hospital and trauma centre for children and youth.
