Seven people have been arrested and 31 firearms seized in a major police operation targeting drug trafficking in southeastern New Brunswick.
RCMP searched six locations in Moncton, Riverview, and Hopewell Cape on May 27.
Police report recovering two vehicles, cash, and a significant amount of substances believed to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, isotonitazene, and hashish.
They added that the firearms seized included loaded and assault-style weapons.
Police began investigating in the fall of 2024 before executing search warrants.
RCMP say illegal firearms pose a growing threat in the community.
“The presence of illegal and improperly handled weapons increases the danger to the public and to police,” Inspector Dan Richardson of the New Brunswick RCMP said.
The seven accused were released but will return to court on September 17.
Mounties are encouraging residents to report suspicious activity to help prevent further crimes involving drugs and weapons.
