Provincial government satisfaction has seen a big increase over the past year, according to a new survey.
Narrative Research says 59 per cent of New Brunswickers reported being completely or mostly satisfied in May.
That was up from a satisfaction level of just 29 per cent reported at the same time one year earlier.
In that time, former Progressive Conservative premier Blaine Higgs was ousted by Liberal Susan Holt in last October’s provincial election.
Satisfaction is highest among women, those aged 65 and over, and individuals living in Greater Moncton and northern New Brunswick.
The Newfoundland and Labrador government has the highest satisfaction in Atlantic Canada at 67 per cent, followed by P.E.I. at 62 per cent and Nova Scotia at 60 per cent.
The survey also asked about satisfaction with the provincial government’s actions on U.S. tariffs and addressing the cost of living.
Here in New Brunswick, half were satisfied with the Holt government’s actions on tariffs, while just under one-third said the same about the cost of living.
The results are part of Narrative Research’s Atlantic Quarterly®, a quarterly telephone survey. New Brunswick results are accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
