Two men are dead following incidents on the water in Charlotte County this weekend, according to the New Brunswick RCMP.
Police said the first incident occurred on June 14, when the St. George RCMP received a report of a “diving training incident” in Beaver Harbour around 2:09 p.m.
“Despite efforts of first responders, a 35-year-old man from Moncton was confirmed deceased on scene,” RCMP said in the release.
Members of the Eastern Charlotte Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick were on scene.
Around 2:38 p.m. on the same day, officers were called to reports of a capsized canoe on the St. Croix River in the Beaconsfield / Loon Bay area.
“Later in the afternoon, the body of a 78-year-old man from Fredericton, N.B., was recovered and he was confirmed to be deceased,” the police said in a release.
Members of the Western Charlotte and St. Stephen fire departments, as well as Ambulance New Brunswick, attended the scene.
Police do not believe criminality was involved in either death.
“A member of the New Brunswick coroner’s office is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death,” the RCMP said in a release in relation to both deaths.
