There are 83 new appointments to the Order of Canada, and two are from New Brunswick.
The recognition was created in 1967, and since then, more than 8,200 people have been appointed. It is one of our country’s highest honours.
Michel Cardin of Riverview will be recognized for his many talents, including as a teacher, lecturer, performer and producer of baroque music.
He is a full professor of guitar and lute at Université de Moncton’s Department of Music, and has become an unrivalled authority on the principles and techniques of baroque music performance.
Stephen Adrian White of Moncton will also be honoured. He is a Canadian authority on Acadian genealogy and has trained and inspired many generations in the Maritimes.
He has also helped millions around the world discover their Acadian roots and heritage.
As the author of the Dictionnaire généalogique des familles acadiennes, he has left Acadians an outstanding genealogical work honouring them.
This will be an honorary appointment for White.
