An independent police watchdog is investigating after a man sustained a “serious injury” in Sussex.
Mounties were called to a disturbance at a residential home on the evening of June 26, according to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).
“The officer arrived at the home and located a young adult male who was reportedly being violent towards staff,” SiRT said in a news release on Tuesday.
“The male proceeded to be violent towards the officer, resisted arrest, spit, and damaged property. ”
The man complained of elbow pain and was diagnosed with an arm fracture after being taken to the hospital.
SiRT investigates all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in New Brunswick.
