The premier of Prince Edward Island has revealed a few of his priorities for First Ministers’ meetings in Ontario this week.
Rob Lantz says Islanders and visitors deserve affordable access to his province.
He plans to speak with the prime minister about promises to lower toll fees on the Confederation Bridge to $20.
Lantz also wants tolls on the Wood Islands Ferry cut in half.
“I will also ensure the federal government is fully aware of the recent disruption in service with the new MV Northumberland and ask them to have Transport Canada officials monitor the situation closely,” Lantz said in a news release.
The First Ministers’ meeting got underway on Monday in Huntsville, Ont., which is located around 220 kilometres from Toronto.
All 13 provincial and territorial premiers are attending the event hosted by Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to arrive on Tuesday, and trade and tariffs are expected to dominate discussions. Meetings will wrap up on Wednesday.
