You will want to plan ahead if you are heading to uptown Saint John over the next few weeks.
Construction at 99 King Street will mean the closure of a busy street and several transit stops.
Charlotte Street will be closed from Union Street to King Street for around four weeks, beginning Thursday, May 22.
City officials said cement trucks and a crane will be operating in the area during that time.
“Access to properties and businesses inside the closed section will be maintained,” the city said in a traffic advisory.
Due to the street closures, Saint John Transit will not be able to service stops on King Street or King’s Square North.
Temporary stops have been established on Water Street and King Street East for use during the closure, said the city.
Buses leaving uptown heading north (3N, 9N and 23) and west (1W and 15W) will leave King Street East, turn right on Wentworth Street, right on Broadview Avenue, right on Charlotte Street and left on Broad Street before following Water Street and St. Patrick Street to their regular route.
Buses leaving St. Patrick Street heading east (1E, 3E and 9E) and uptown (15S and 23) will travel along Water Street and Broad Street, turn right on Charlotte Street, left on Broadview Avenue, left on Wentworth Street and left on King Street East to their regular route.
Southbound bus 21 will leave King Street East, turn right on Crown Street and travel along Broad Street before turning right on Wentworth Street to its regular route.
Eastbound buses (1E, 3E, 9E, 33, 35 and 52) leaving King Street East will turn right onto Sydney Street to their regular route.
