Charges have been laid after a police officer was stabbed in the head several times in Northwest Moncton.
RCMP were called to a home on Fairisle Drive just before midnight on August 14 after reports of an assault and disturbance involving two people.
While trying to arrest one of the individuals, they resisted, and an officer was stabbed several times.
Officers had to use a taser twice to try and subdue the man. The first time, they were unsuccessful, but with the second attempt, they were able to arrest him.
A 35-year-old man is facing charges of attempted murder, two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, two counts of resisting a peace officer, and uttering threats.
He is scheduled to return to court on Friday, August 22.
The injured police officer was treated at the hospital for severe, but non-life-threatening injuries and has now been released.
