A Moncton man who floated down the Petitcodiac River on an ice chunk is now facing several criminal charges.
But Codiac RCMP say the charges are not related to the incident on the river.
Around 6am Thursday, Mounties responded to a complaint about an assault at a home on Salisbury Road.
But when officers arrived, the suspect had fled.
A short time later, a man was spotted on a large piece of ice floating down the river.
Despite rescue efforts from first responders, the man made it to shore safely on his own and was eventually taken into custody.
In Moncton provincial court Friday, 34-year-old Mike Delahunt was charged with two counts of assault, one count of uttering threats, one count of property damage and two counts of breach of probation.
He is being held in custody until a bail hearing on Monday afternoon at 1:30.
