Human remains found over the winter have been identified as belonging to a missing Saint John woman.
Shirley Woodhouse was last seen in the area of Cape Spencer on Red Head Road on Nov. 8, 2022.
The 72-year-old woman’s vehicle was found unoccupied in the area two days later, police said.
An extensive search turned up a number of Woodhouse’s personal items, but there was no sign of her.
“Although there is no certainty, due to the nature and location of these items, it is reasonable to believe that Shirley may have sustained a fall from the edge of the cliff to the water,” police said at the time.

On Wednesday, police announced that partial human remains had been located by fishermen in the Bay of Fundy on Jan. 31 and were reported to the RCMP.
The remains were sent for DNA analysis, which later confirmed they belonged to Woodhouse.
“No cause of death has been determined at this time,” police said in Wednesday’s news release.
